Chicago Wedding Transportation Guide: How to Plan Every Ride on the Day

Chicago wedding transportation starts with your timeline

Before you pick a car, list every move the day needs:

• Where the couple and the wedding party get ready.
• Ceremony location and start time.
• Photo stops, and how long each one takes.
• Reception location and start time.
• Hotel shuttles for guests, before and after.
• The grand exit at the end of the night.

Then add the drive time between each stop, plus a buffer. Photos almost always run long.

Vehicles for the couple

Three choices cover most weddings:

• Mercedes-Benz S 580: our top sedan, a first-class arrival for two.
• Stretch limousine: the classic pick if you want a few friends along. Seats 8 to 10.
• Lincoln Navigator: a quiet SUV, good for the ride between the ceremony and photos.

Moving the wedding party

The wedding party should travel together, most of all between the ceremony and photos. SUVs seat up to six, a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter seats 11 to 14, and a limo bus seats 20 to 30.

Do not forget guest shuttles

Guest shuttles are easy to overlook. Downtown venues often have little parking, and suburban estates can mean a long, dark drive home.

Sprinters, limo buses, and coaches (up to 56 seats) can loop between the hotels and the venue, so nobody has to drive after the reception.

How to budget for wedding transportation

Most wedding rides are booked by the hour, with a minimum that depends on the vehicle and date. Starting rates:

• Stretch limousine: from $145 per hour.
• Mercedes-Benz Sprinter: from $160 per hour.

Chicago venue tips

• Downtown hotels and ballrooms: drop-off space in the Loop and River North is tight, so confirm the entrance ahead of time.
• Millennium Park and the Riverwalk: popular photo stops. Allow walking time from the car.
• Loft venues: often on busy streets with little room to stop, so plan quick drop-offs.
• North Shore venues: popular spots include Alice Millar Chapel at Northwestern and the Woman's Club of Evanston in Evanston, and the Deer Path Inn in Lake Forest, about 31 miles north of downtown.
• Suburban estates and clubs: long private drives and gates, so confirm exact pickup spots.

Check the city calendar

Big events close streets and slow traffic. Check your date before you set times.

• Magnificent Mile Lights Festival: Saturday, November 21, 2026. Streets start closing around 3 p.m., the parade starts at 5:30 p.m. at Oak and Michigan, and fireworks over the river are at 7:30 p.m.
• Christkindlmarket at Daley Plaza: November 20 to December 24, 2026, with big holiday crowds in the Loop.
• Chicago Marathon: the next one is Sunday, October 10, 2027.

Timing tips from the road

1. Add 15 to 30 minutes of buffer to the photo stops.
2. Send the wedding party ahead of the couple, not behind.
3. Name one person as the transportation contact on the day.
4. Send us the venue addresses and entrances in writing.
5. Plan the last shuttle for after the last dance, not before.
6. Confirm the final timeline with us a few weeks before the day.
